MS Fram

MS Fram brings on the heritage of the original Fram, using the most advanced technology to make her exceptionally well suited for expedition voyages in Polar Regions. Enjoy the sauna or jacuzzi and watch icebergs float silently by. Read more...

MS FRAM_specsThe modern MS Fram is the true expedition ship with one mission - to bring her guests closer to nature, wildlife and remote regions of the world. The MS Fram follows in the wake of the original Fram - the ship of two great polar explorers Roald Amundsen and Fritjof Nansen.

Fram means 'forward' and this ship is fully equipped to explore the polar waters with purpose-built and state-of-the-art facilities while respecting the deep heritage of polar exploration.

The ultimate adventurer

The original Fram was the most famous ship of her time and broadened our understanding of the world. It is this same aspect that MS Fram facilitates for our guests today, creating amazing adventures through the polar region with an emphasis on safety, flexibility and environmental friendliness.

The ship is purpose built as an expedition vessel with a higher ice-class, chart drawing tools, ship depth sounding database, extractable forward sounding sonar, iceberg searchlights, autonomous tracking system and an oversized oil retention system for self-sufficiency.

MS Fram is equipped with sturdy Polarcirkel boats to take guests safely from ship to shore where they are accompanied by knowledgeable team members. All crew members on the Antarctica voyages are highly trained, helpful and passionate about their chosen field, whether that be geology, photography, history, glaciology or biology.

Explore comfortably

MS Fram has 127 cabins and caters for all guests, with comfortable cabins and superior suites to choose from. Artwork throughout the ship was commissioned in 2007 specifically for the ship from local artists in the Arctic and each cabin is named after Norwegian polar heroes.

The observation lounge provides comfortable sitting areas and has large panoramic windows with a pair of binoculars installed for spotting wildlife and details of the evolving landscape. The outdoor deck includes access to the very front of the ship where marine wildlife can often be spotted.

The restaurant on deck five has beautiful views of the outdoors, as does the gym on deck seven and from the outdoor jacuzzis atop the ship.
