• Reykjavik – The world’s most northerly capital, cosmopolitan Reykjavik has an excellent arts scene, superb restaurants, interesting architecture, lively nightlife and some of the best hotels in Iceland.
• Gullfoss – This magnificent waterfall is an essential stop on all Iceland tours. The mighty Hvítá River makes a sudden 90º turn before plunging abruptly into a 32 m crevice. From a distance, it looks as if the river is simply disappearing into the Earth.
• Geysir – Two or three times a day, this hot spring shoots a jet of boiling water up to 80 m into the air. If you don’t fancy waiting around, the nearby Strokkur geyser erupts to a height of 35 m every five minutes or so. Both springs are a must when sightseeing in Iceland.

• Thingvellir National Park – Home to Iceland’s largest lake, this beautiful national park was set up to protect the site of Iceland’s ancient parliament, which operated on the lake shore from 930 AD until the late 18th century.
• Dimmuborgir (Dark Castles) – A surreal lava park where harsh rock formations tower over green shrubs and delicate wildflowers. According to Icelandic mythology, Dimmuborgir connects Earth with the underworld.

Lake Myvatn – This tranquil lake in Iceland’s north is Europe’s largest bird sanctuary. Bring your binoculars along to spot geese, swans, ducks, Arctic terns and golden plovers.
